On 15th of August, the VVSV campus was all set to witness the meticulously organised Independence Day programme to commemorate the independence of our nation and to instil a sense of patriotism, unity, and responsibility among the students.
The programme commenced with the welcoming of the Chief Guest Sri. Gopal Kulkarni, Former Scientist at ISRO and currently serving as the Managing Director of Kendra Business Technologies with the school band. The guest and other dignitaries were escorted to the venue amidst the melodious tunes of the band. This was followed by the flag-hoisting ceremony. The National Flag was unfurled with pride and respect.
Smt. Shweta Santosh extended a formal welcome followed by a soulful Patriotic Song, which created a strong feeling of love and pride for our motherland.
The students then presented the Guard of Honour to the Chief Guest of the day and a disciplined and synchronised March Past by all the four houses reflected dedication, teamwork, and respect for the nation. The school magazine ‘Legends Lost to Time- A journey into the forgotten history’ was released by Sri Gopal Kulkarni Sir. It was a compilation of the anecdotes, poems and paintings by the students of VVSV based on the unsung heroes of India. The magazine is a tribute to all those who sacrificed their lives and considered nation before their own self.
Charvika Reddy and K. Ekansh of grade 5 delivered an inspiring speech in English, highlighting the significance of Independence Day and reminding everyone of the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters. This was followed by an impressive Drill Performance by the students of grade 3 and 4, which demonstrated coordination, discipline, and physical fitness. Charitha Gowda and Shanvitha Reddy of grade 7 in their speech in Kannada, emphasised upon the fact that freedom is not just about celebrating, its about preserving unity, respecting diversity, and building a nation where every citizen has equal rights and opportunities.
The Fancy Dress by the students of grade 1 & 2 added colour and enthusiasm to the celebration. Students dressed up and portrayed the prominent gallantry award winners and showcased immense confidence in their introductory speech.
A meaningful speech in Hindi was presented by Samyukthashree of grade 7, emphasizing patriotism, national unity, and the duties of responsible citizens. The audience was then treated to a graceful Bharatanatyam Dance, which beautifully showcased India’s rich cultural heritage.
This was followed by a thoughtful dialogue in Kannada by Jeevika and Deekshith of grade 7, conveying the importance of freedom, unity, and love for the nation in the regional language. The students of grades 6 -10 then presented a captivating Dance Drama, depicting the Pulwama terror attack and its befitting reply to the terrorists through Operation Sindoor.
The Chief Guest addressed the gathering and appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers in organizing such a meaningful celebration through an interactive session with our students. His inspiring words encouraged the students to contribute positively to society and uphold the values of our country.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Smt. Reema Sarkar, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
Finally, the National Song, filled the atmosphere with pride and devotion towards the nation.
The Independence Day celebration conveyed the message that freedom comes with responsibility and that every citizen has a role to play in the progress and development of our nation.
