On the occasion of World Environment Day, Vagdevi Vilas School, Varthur celebrated the event meaningfully making it a memorable day for everyone. The theme of the year, “Beat Plastic Pollution” was a reminder us of the urgent need to heal the planet of plastic bug starting right from the school campus!

The day began with a special morning assembly that turned into a celebration of nature.

The event geared up with a powerful Green Pledge, where students and staff vowed to reduce plastic usage, refuse single-use plastics, and adopt eco-friendly habits.

The celebration continued on a melodious note with a soulful rendition of a ‘Parisara Geet,’. Next, there was a captivating dance drama titled ‘The Unsung Changemakers’ by students of III & IV which brought to life the inspiring stories of lesser-known environmental heroes.

It was trailed by a powerful kavita paath titled ‘Plastic Se Mukti,’ where students of Std VII recited thought-provoking verses urging society to break free from the grip of plastic pollution and embrace a cleaner, greener lifestyle.

The next attraction of the day was a performance where the stage came alive with the rhythmic beats of ‘Dhak Dhak Dharti’- a vibrant dance performed by students of Std VII & VIII.

This was followed by the guiding words from our respected Principal, Smt.Leela Padma who addressed the gathering with an inspiring speech, emphasizing the urgent need to protect the environment and encouraging students to take small but meaningful steps towards a plastic-free, greener future.

The event wrapped up with a powerful street play “Beat him before he beats us” by the students of STD V & VI.

The celebration was a sincere tribute to Mother Earth and created awareness through varied art forms. The event drew to a graceful close with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks.
